Finley’s First Birthday Party

December 13, 2022

What a year with our sweet boy! He is altogether wild and truly the sweetest thing. His laughter and joy and adventurous nature are just a few things we adore. We celebrated Finn’s first birthday in our home and had the same meal I ate just minutes after I gave birth to him LOL! After he was in my arms I ate two big ole bowls of homemade chili, I shared the recipe in a blog post earlier this fall. It’s delicious and you must make it soon! Since his birthday is in the fall, it’s the perfect time for seasonal party decor and spooky party foods. I just wrapped up gathering the few photos I took of his party, so I wanted to share them!

Literally one of the only photos I took of him that day.

Finn loves having people in our home just as much as we do, so throwing a party with friends and family was the perfect way to celebrate him! We invited close friends and local family and Alexander’s parents were in town so it ended up being a great weekend to host a party. The weather was chilly but sunny, so we spent most of the party inside sipping apple cider, eating homemade chili, and snacking on halloween popcorn bark, homemade cornbread and one of Alexander’s moms famous chocolate cake recipes! Sweet Liliana and one of her friends decorated his cake and then we went trick-or-treating after the party with a few neighbors and friends, make sure you see it all below.

If you haven’t read Finley’s birth story, please do so. It was a wild experience, that deserved a permeant spot on the blog — I had fun writing it and reflecting on the year we’ve had with him. At his party I was so involved (aka, chasing toddlers) that I didn’t get a chance to really capture the sweetness of the day, so enjoy a few of the snapshots I took!
