Laundry Room Progress

July 29, 2024

Alexander first knocked down a wall in our laundry room last fall. We have long decided that we want to update our laundry room and oh my, it has been a process! But we’ve made so much progress thus far, and I’m excited to show you!

When we first moved into our home 3 years ago, the laundry room, which you enter into from the garage, was a nice size but not laid out in a functional way that best suits a growing family. So after much discussion and planning, Alexander knocked out the wall between the laundry room and a back closet.

Alexander is very handy, he gets it from his dad (who has been a major help on several projects within this large project), so they were able to reroute electricity and water so we could stack the washer and dryer and move the sink to the back wall. After these changes and fixing the drywall, we started dreaming of colors, textures, overall layout and smaller design aspects we both wanted in this new bare space.

We decided to go with a custom vanity from Drexel, Alexander made open shelving out of butcher block like in our kitchen, we bought a bench from HomeGoods to store necessary items since we lost a closet and I’ve been collecting baskets and candlestick holders and other items to decorate the shelves – making them practical and pretty.

And although the room is fully functional, we still have several things to do in order for this project to be complete! We need to touch up a few areas with paint, Alexander is working on staining the new floor boards, we need to find custom baseboards and trim for around the window, we are currently on a hunt for coat hooks, wall mounted drying rack, wallpaper and a rug (but the links are what I am 99% sure we’ll go with)!

Hope you enjoyed a peek into the middle of this project. Stay tuned for the final reveal!
