Wholehearted Living & Injustice

April 16, 2018

A common definition of slavery is, “the use of lies or violence to force another person to work for little or no pay” (ijm.org). A couple examples of modern day slavery are: sex trafficking, labor trafficking, police abusing their power, and cybersex trafficking.

Once I learned that slavery still existed, it became a topic I could not turn away from. I knew I had to do something about the men, women and children around the world who were unseen, voiceless, and in need of prayer, hope and rescue because I know they are worthy of living a beautiful life.

When I was in college, I started a group on my campus to raise awareness about trafficking, I’ve gone to conferences and hosted prayer groups and bible studies for others to learn more about this issue. And after college I began working on a team for a nonprofit that was specific to topics of injustice.

And still today, I love speaking, training, reading and learning more about modern day slavery and what people can do to be a voice for the voiceless.

So here I am, with a website encouraging others to live a wholehearted life. I’m a big believer in the fact that living a wholehearted life is living for others. It’s not just about getting healthier, changing how you eat, maintaining a workout schedule or solely to become stronger in your faith. Although those are all good things, it is much, much greater than that, it’s greater than you.

Living a wholehearted life is about what you can offer the world through love. We set healthy rhythms in our lives now so we maintain healthy rhythms when we’re older so we can continue to serve throughout our lifetime; we strengthen our faith now to raise our children well & to show how beautiful Christ is to later generations.

Caring for the 40 million+ people in the world who are enslaved & deciding to change your life in order to make a difference is living a wholehearted life. I encourage you to check out other blogs I’ve written about similar topics & please, feel free to check out the Sustainable Lifestyle page on my website for more information & links to other posts that offer insight & great resources.

Wholehearted living is living for the other – be a voice for the voiceless & don’t stop learning about the people, places, and injustices of our world.

Together, our voices can make a difference.
