Finley’s 3rd Birthday

November 5, 2024

Our sweet boy is THREE! This was the year he totally understood that his birthday was a day all about him, he laughed and played and feasted and felt so so loved. We celebrated his birthday the day of in a special way and then threw our annual birthday/halloween party for him the following weekend, here are some photos from our week.

Our day started off early, since it was a school/work day — I made waffles and bacon, a Ramsey fam fave on birthdays, and little lattes for the kids. After dropping off Liliana at school, Alexander and I took Finley out for a treat at a local coffee shop and they spent the rest of the morning at the park together.

After picking up Liliana from school, we tried our daily quiet time rhythm but both kids were too excited for dinner and cake that evening to even close their eyes, so we nixed the naps and spent time outside and frosting his Bluey cake (I died to self with that one). Alexander ended work early so he could spend time with us playing in the leafs, our annual photo-op ever since Liliana and I took similar photos 12 hours before he was born, always a special tradition.

After dinner at Chick-fil-a, his obvious choice, we started a fire outside while eating cake and playing soccer in the backyard. It was such a fun and dreamy and easy kind of day, which represents our Finley so perfectly.

The weekend after Finley’s birthday is always trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, so we invite neighbors and close friends to come over, dressed up and ready to celebrate Finley’s birthday and go trick-or-treating afterwards. I personally felt so blessed by friends making cupcakes and festive charcuterie boards and young kids praying over our celebration — it takes a village!

Celebrating our sweet boy this year was the best, it was one of the first times I experienced him understanding how these days and celebrations were about him, truly a gift as his mama!
