Okay, friends! I titled today’s episode with the question: “What Helps Us Find Our Purpose and Our Passion?” That also could be a statement with the answer added onto the end of the sentence. My hope for you is that by the end of this episode you are able to either finish that sentence on your own or at least have a greater understanding of where to begin with figuring out where our passions are found and how our purposes are rooted in the same answer. If you have a pen and paper or the notes app on your phone, get ‘em out, and if you have a Bible handy, get that out too! I have 3 main points for you today – let’s dive in!

We’re going to turn to Matthew 16. I read these verses in the last episode & it’s where we’re going to mostly be today. In Matthew 16 starting in verse 13 Jesus asked his disciples, who are his closest friends, who people say he is. And his disciples respond by saying names of men in the Old Testament, and then Jesus turns the question to his disciples. He asks the pointed question: “But what about you, who do you say that I am?” and Simon, one of his closest closest friends, says: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

A little reference, the word Messiah means “the chosen one” or “the anointed one”.

Jesus’ questions to his disciples was, and still is, one of the biggest questions you will answer in your lifetime. “Who do you say that I am?” God cares about the thoughts in our minds & the attitudes of our hearts, we will all give an account of these things one day. God will not care what your mom thought or brother or neighbor thought about who God is, he wants to know what you think, he cares about who you say he is.

The 3 main points are:

  1. You need to know Jesus.
  2. You need to believe Jesus.
  3. You need to listen to Jesus.
