I was scrolling through the notes on my phone recently and I came across these words I typed out several years ago. I must’ve shared them on an Instagram story and thought they’d be sweet to share here.
coming out of the Sabbath, we come out rested & renewed. we start our mondays, our work week, from a place of rest.
someone asked me last night if sabbath is a noun or verb. and cool thing is, it’s both. depending on the translation of the same Hebrew word, Shabbat, it can be a noun and/or a verb.
Shabbat (n): a holy day set aside to stop, rest, delight & worship.
Shabbat (v): to stop
Shabbat (v): rested
working from a place of rest is vastly different than working FOR rest. seven years ago i made this change in my mind & heart and wowwww, it’s changed who i am & my entire life.
Twelve years into stopping, resting, delighting and worshiping once a week and I still have the same thoughts week after week. How blessed are we to have access to this kind of grace and rest.
