Summer Rhythms with Free Printable

The Ramsey haus runs on rhythms. We have daily rhythms, weekly rhythms, monthly rhythms, rhythms in our marriage. The list could go on!

And these rhythms are not constricting or binding, it’s generally the opposite. These rhythms create flexibility, freedom, feed into our creativity and allow our days to run more smoothly. Our kids can feel when we’re out of rhythm and our marriage flourishes when we keep rhythms of checking in with each other regularly, going over finances on a weekly basis, having weekly date nights (whether staying at home or going out) and listening to what the other is learning from God in the different seasons we experience in life. Rhythms

Now, these rhythms I’m speaking of have no timeline or time constraints, they don’t have a starting or stopping or boxes to stay within, so when I share a few example down below, you’ll notice there are no timestamps or specific dates. They are less rigid and more fluid, they help us dance throughout our days instead of keeping track of a schedule. So I’m almost certain that having rhythms for your home, marriage, and overall life can work in varying seasons, unique living situations, whether you’re at SAHM or working mama, and whether you’re type A or type B.

Halfway through summer I realized why my home was messier and why we were all more tired than we should be, I was working harder to keep my home clean and my kids were a litttttle all over the place when it came to eating and picking up their toys, napping and bedtimes. It was the lack of rhythm. And we were all suffering because of it.

There’s something with summer being more freeing and fun, with less routine and structure, which I can be all for, until it upsets our moods, eating habits and other healthy, productive habits we’ve created and sustained in our home and family. So a few weeks ago I quickly created a little document, printed it off and stuck it to our fridge. I titled it Summertime Daily Rhythms. And it has created so much peace in our home.

Our days, especially our mornings, have flowed more smoothly and our home is cleaner ever since incorporating these daily rhythms. My kids have clear expectations for what is expected because I’ve set the expectations. We are all together happier and are carrying the weight of caring for our home.

Looking back on the last month, with it now being the end of summer, I’m grateful for the rhythms and look forward to shifting a few of them for the beginning of the fall.
