Why You Will Love This Recipe

Healthy, simple ingredients – most granolas you buy off a shelf have seed oils and other ingredients to make it last longer, but when it’s homemade you know all the ingredients! And I bet you already have most of them in your pantry.

Easy to make – your little kids can help you measure!

Budget friendly — granola in a bakery or store, especially made & bought in small batch, is expensive. Making your own only saves you money!

What You’ll Need

Large mixing bowl

Whisk

Wooden spoon

Parchment paper

Baking pan, preferably 9×13

Ingredients

4 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 cup sourdough starter (active or discard)

2 cups nuts (I usually use pecans and pumpkin seeds)

2 cups dried fruit (cranberries are my go-to seasonal favorite)

3/4 cup neutral baking oil (melted coconut or avocado)

1/2 cup maple syrup or honey

Sea salt flakes (Jacobsen Salt Co is one of our faves)

Dash of cinnamon

Diced chocolate bar (optional)

How to Make

To make, preheat oven to 350* and begin by mixing all the dried ingredients in a large mixing bowl with a whisk. Add in the pumpkin puree, sourdough, oil and maple syrup, switch to using a wooden spoon to thoroughly mix everything together. Make sure all the dry ingredients are coated with the oil and maple syrup. Pour mixture into 9×13 baking dish lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 25-40 minutes (depending on your oven), stir every 15 minutes. Let cool for 30 minutes before adding the diced chocolate bar, mix in well. Serving over the top of yogurt and top with fresh berries. Enjoy!
