Everything is in bloom. The garden area is complete. We’re working on the kids play area. New grass is planted. We put down mulch. Alexander built a new swing for the kids. We have the vision for more flowers and stepping stones and planting new trees.
This spring and summer is the year of outside! The first year we were in our home (2021), we took our time settling in, figuring out the natural rhythms of our home – inside and out. Last spring we did our kitchen remodel (2022) and this year we’re focusing on the outside of our home.
It feels rewarding to work with our hands, but if I’m honest, I feel like our yard is always a mess – piles of wood from building new garden boxes, piles of dirt from filling said garden boxes, patchy grass from learning how to plant grass seed. I still have hope that all will be finished and perfectly beautiful as I imagine it to be, so I’m learning how to enjoy this process.
In learning to enjoy the journey and process of things, rather than just the final project, I figured I’d share our process – the “messy middle” as I’ve heard it called.
Here are some photos of everything, from building the garden boxes, to our first sprouted veggies, buying mulch with the kids, our lovely patchy grass, kids play areas, and all the beautiful blooms!
