Motherhood has looked a lot like this lately. More Motherhood has looked a lot like this lately. More playtime, less striving for perfection.

I’ve always been a structured gal - i like routine & thrive on steadiness. And motherhood has challenged me in both of these things. Motherhood is unpredictable. Motherhood is ever-changing. Motherhood is wave after wave afterrrrr wave of unsteadiness.

I heard a dear friend of mine, @wynneelder, say this the other day & it stuck with me. She basically posed the question: are my days going to be filled with being productive or being present? I’m choosing being present - being the presence my baby needs, being the presence and steadiness throughout her day.

Motherhood has challenged my view of perfection, productivity and being present. And depending on which view I choose alters my days with sweet L.

There’s time for productivity, but I think it can hold hands with being present.

Mamas, how do you balance both being present with your babes & staying productive?
ever wonder which oils smell good together? head ever wonder which oils smell good together?

i haven’t done an outfit post in quite some time i haven’t done an outfit post in quite some time. soooo here we go!

about 7 years ago i learned about the deep darkness of human trafficking. it shook me to my core. i was the girl who only wore H&M, Forever21, Gap, Nike, Urban Outfitters & a handful of other name brands. little did i know that i was contributing to the rising statistics of human trafficking. little did i know that the brands i loved were choosing to shield their eyes to the hurt, pain & brokeness human trafficking creates. and to be honest, these brands aren’t naive, and i don’t actually think they’re shielding their eyes. i believe they are purposefully choosing not to change. they know trafficking exists. they know the statistics. they know who they’re hurting.

and i get it, this is a huge issue that makes individuals, and maybe companies, feel like a drop in the ocean. but these words from Annie Dillard always make my heart skip a beat,
“how we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”

i want to spend my days speaking up for those who are unheard. i want to spend my days unearthing the stories of men, women & children who’s stories and lives are being shoved further and further and further away from the rest of the world, further into darkness.

and i think we can replace “days” with money and “lives” with treasure. i want to spend my money on things that store up treasure for me AND for others. a great teacher once said that “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” so many things in this life are fleeting, but the choices we make today create opportunity for us and others tomorrow. and those daily choices create, of course, a lifetime of choices.

and just like many things in life, it usually takes a season of learning & trial and error to make different choices and make changes in your lifestyle. so do your research. if you love a company, stalk their website -- it will be VERY CLEAR if they are an ethical company or not. helpful words/things to look for:
⋒ sustainable
⋒ “I made your clothes?”
⋒ ethical
⋒ handmade
⋒ organic
⋒ look for certifications

this year for christmas alexander introduced me to...

cont. in the comments...
if you’re going to invest in anything this year, if you’re going to invest in anything this year, why not let it be your overall wellness?

i’m not just talking about setting new years resolutions to work out every day or randomly get into protein shakes. i’m talking about major shifts in your lifestyle. something you take slow, work on each day, take time to learn, invest, grow and work along nature and what your body is already telling you.

i’ve been on my own journey for several years, i already have a story to tell. so let’s focus on YOUR story. what is your story with wellness? do you have one? are you wanting to switch some things up? whatever your answers are i want to hear them. and i want to invest my time & my knowledge in YOU.

so let’s start here: what are your health goals this year? this isn’t about ordering oils. this is about you speaking on behalf of your body, your home, your family & YOUR goals.

i’m just hear to listen. comment below with some goals. or DM me, let’s keep this convo going!
the morning after a long trip calls for pjs all da the morning after a long trip calls for pjs all day, homemade lattes & couch snuggles.

we are home. missing the mountains but thankful to have woken up in our own beds. we’re making those lattes as we speak & we’re still in our Christmas pjs 🎄🙌🏼

& we’re taking a poll if we can make it til midnight tonight 🥴 what about you, are you a NYE at midnight fam or bed by 9?
every year, like a lot of you, i choose a word. my every year, like a lot of you, i choose a word. my words are ones that i believe God places on my heart. my words are usually areas of my life i desire to grow in & choose to open my heart to God so he can teach me more about himself.

this year i chose the word freedom. and going into this year i knew freedom does not equal wild. freedom does not equal living in excess & without boundaries.

freedom is all around me. Alexander teaches me about freedom moment by moment & Liliana teaches me more about freedom than anyone i know. she displays freedom all day long. in how she loves & laughs & plays & babbles & asks for help & shows disappointment & in how she trusts me.

f r e e d o m is all around me.

a phrase God continued to speak over me throughout this year was, “you are already free”.

& the gentle reminder that freedom isn’t free.

i am already f r e e in Him.
i am already f r e e because of Him. the same Him who chose me, died for me & rose again. for me.

i am already F R E E. & so are you. if you need to hear it, hear this: you are already F R E E. you’re free in Him & because of Him. He chose you. died for you. and rose for you. you are free indeed.

free people free people — amen?

do you choose a word? if so, what did you learn from this past year?
sweet Liliana. she’s currently in the backseat s sweet Liliana. she’s currently in the backseat snuggling with Baby & her new bunny. she’s making bunny clap his paws & giving him her paci. she is such a lil’ mama. it’s the cutest thing. and i never want to forget these moments — this sweet & momentary stage she’s in. it’s the best. my favorite thus far.

i keep looking back at her. staring at her in the mirror. wondering who she’s becoming. i pray for strength, beauty & light. i pray for less of this world & more of Jesus. i pray for worthiness, joy & curiosity.

sweet baby of mine, you’re the perfect mixture of kind & wild, gentle & bold. sweet baby of mine, i love who you are.
31 has never looked so good. you are kind & gentl 31 has never looked so good.

you are kind & gentle. you are the sweetest husband & wildest dad. Liliana and i adore you.

happy birthday, my love.
